What is Whitfords Rainbow Toy Library?
Whitfords Rainbow Toy Library is a not-for-profit community organisation that loans toys, games, puzzles, and more to local families. It has been operating for over 30 years, run entirely by member volunteers.
What are the opening hours?
We are open every Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, except on public holiday weekends and over the Christmas break.
Where is Whitfords Rainbow Toy Library located?
From 11 January 2025, we will be operating from Guy Daniel Clubroom, 16 Sail Terrace, Heathridge in Perth’s northern suburbs.
Our last day at the Whitfords Family Centre will be 14 December.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there is ample free parking available.
Membership
Who can join the Toy Library?
Any family can join the Whitfords Toy Library! We welcome families living in the northern suburbs of Perth or surrounding areas, from Sorrento to Yanchep and beyond.
How does the membership work?
We offer 12- or 6-month memberships. Members are required to volunteer some of their time to help run the Toy Library as we are entirely volunteer-operated. Members will volunteer for a shift at the Toy Library once per quarter (approx. 2.5 hours) and attend the annual stock take and AGM.
How can I become a member?
To become a member, complete an online form and pay your fees via bank transfer.
How much does membership cost?
The cost of membership is $80 or $50 for a reduced duration (up to 6 months). All memberships require a commitment to volunteering on a Saturday shift at the toy library four times per year and attend the annual stocktake and AGM. Memberships expire on 30 June or 31 December, depending on the date of registration.
Toys
What types of toys can I borrow?
We have a wide range of toys, including ride-ons, puzzles, dress-ups, educational games, and more, catering to newborns to children aged up to 6 years old.
How many toys can I borrow at once?
Typically, members can borrow up to 8 toys per visit.
What happens if I return toys late?
We kindly ask that toys are returned on time to ensure availability for other members. Late fees may apply if toys are returned past the due date without prior arrangement.
Can I put a toy on hold?
Unfortunately, we cannot facilitate holds on toys.
How often can I borrow toys?
Members can borrow toys every Saturday from 9-11am, except on public holiday weekends and over the Christmas break.
How long can I keep the toys?
Toys are loaned out for a period of three weeks.
What if a toy is lost or damaged?
We understand that accidents happen! If a toy is damaged, we ask members to notify us and return all the parts. For toys that are damaged beyond repair or pieces are lost, a replacement fee may apply.
General
Do you accept donations?
Most of our toys are purchased new thanks to grants, sponsorships and monetary donations. If you have toys that are ‘like-new’ and would like to donate to the Toy Library, please contact us with more information.

What happens if I return toys late?

Can my business become a sponsor?
We are fortunate to have a number of local businesses sponsor toys at our Toy Library. We welcome interest from businesses who would be interested in supporting us. Contact us at toy_library@hotmail.com and the committee will work with you to identify appropriate toys aligned with your industry which we would be grateful to accept as a donation.
Can non-members visit the Toy Library?
Non-members are welcome to visit during opening hours to learn more about what we offer. However, borrowing toys is exclusive to members.
